Aileen Harrrill

 

 

 Mrs. Aileen Padgett Harrill, 100, Hugh Harrill Road, passed away on December 30, 2009 at Fair Haven Home in Bostic, NC.                                                                 

Aileen was born on September 9, 1909 in Rutherford County to the late Josephus and Hedgie Padgett of Rutherford County

She graduated from Cool Springs High School in 1927 and attended Boiling Springs Junior College for one year. After getting married and having a family, she continued her education and graduated with honors at Wake Forest College in 1940 and received her master’s degree in English from Appalachian State University.  She taught English for 33 years retiring from Crest High School in 1975.

At the time of her death she was a member of Lattimore Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir and was loved by her church and community.. She was a member of various educational organizations and was an active member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church for many years, where she and her husband worked with and served the Sandy Plains community and church and considered them family. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Hugh F. Harrill, a sister; Alba Padgett Blair Ross and a brother; William Ray Padgett.

She is survived by her children; son, Richard Durham Harrill of Gaffney, SC  and a daughter; Barbara Harrill Hawkins of Shelby, sister; Irma Padgett Irvin of Greensboro, NC.  Her loving grandchildren; Katherine Aileen Hawkins Lucas and husband Bob of Gastonia, Sarah Harrison Owens and husband David of Charleston, Susan Hawkins Sullens and husband Larry of Shelby, Allison Harrill Corbett and husband Jim of Columbia, SC and Dr. Richard Hugh Harrill of Columbia, SC.

Great grandchildren:  Lainey Elizabeth Harrison, Randolph Cromwell Harrison IV,  Caitlin Aileen Lucas, Laura Jeane Sullens, James Samuel Corbett and Katherine Grace Corbett.

Most of her last eight years were spent at Crawley Memorial Hospital. Her family would like to express our thanks for the exceptional care, love and respect shown to her during her lengthy stay.

The family would also, like to say a special thank you to Fair Haven Home for the care she received while a resident there.                

  Funeral Services will be on Sunday, January 3, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Lattimore Baptist Church with the Dr. Max Burgin officiating. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the Lattimore Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Internment will follow in the church cemetery.
