Ralph William Dedmond
Mr.
Ralph William Dedmond, 84, of 904 Blanton Street, Shelby, died Saturday, Dec.
19, 2009, at Cleveland Re-gional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Romie and Stella W.
Dedmond. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps. Mr. Dedmond retired following
30 years of service with the Cleveland County Health Department. He was a member
of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby; was a charter member of the
Optimist Club and served as an officer in the Elks Club. He served as one of the
first CPR instructors in Cleveland County for many years. He also loved to fish
and garden.
Mr. Dedmond is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret Dedmond of
Shelby; by two sons, Richard Dedmond and his wife, Cinda, of Southern Pines, and
Dr. Keith Dedmond and his wife, Kathy, of Lincolnton. He is also survived by six
grandchildren; Kevin Dedmond of Chapel Hill, Dr. Michael Dedmond and wife,
Bridgett, of Denver, Melissa Dedmond of Charlotte, Dr. Brian Dedmond and wife,
Kris, of Lincolnton, and Molly and Emma Dedmond, both of Southern Pines.
Funeral: Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral
Home.
Visitation: The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
