Gay H. Bridges
Mrs. Gay H. Bridges, 68, 706 Cherry Lane, Shelby, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 25, 1941 in Cleveland County, to the late Leander Johnson and Estelle Beason Bridges. She retired from Hoechst Celanese after 33 years of service. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, active in the Pleasanteers Senior Group, and a member of the Holbrook Sunday School Class. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, loved yard sales, attending gospel singings, visiting the nursing homes and reading. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Jackie Quentine Bridges, her daughter, Melissa Jean Bridges, Brothers Jack Harrison, and Bob Harrison.. She is survived by her sons: John E. Bridges and wife Jenny of Boiling Springs, and Phillip A. Bridges and wife Kasie of Shelby. Her Brothers: Don Harrison, Jerry Harrison and Ted Harrison of Mooresboro and Russell McNeilly of Morganton, and her sisters: Bette Hamrick of Greenville, SC and Jean Penson of Easley, SC. Her beloved grandchildren: Jenna Bridges, Carson Bridges, and Colby Bridges of Boiling Springs and Ava Bridges of Shelby. The family will be at the home at 706 Cherry Lane, Shelby.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27, 2009, from 4:00 -5:00 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be held at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Dr. J. Eric Davis.
Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
