John Stout

Mr. John Miller Stout, 69, 4025 Lynn Circle, passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at home. John was born on Feb. 17, 1940, in Johnson City, Tenn., to the late William Howard and Irene Miller Stout. He served in the Army Reserve. He retired from the N.C. State Government as a horticulture area agent after 15 years; he had previously worked for 18 years in South Carolina as a horticulture area agent. He was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the church choir and was an ascension member. He was an avid gardener and bird watcher. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Frances Marie Moll Stout; sons, Joseph M. Stout of Fresno, Calif., and James W. Stout of Shelby; brothers, William Stout and wife, Barbara, of Jonesboro, Tenn., and Frank Stout of Johnson City, Tenn.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 6, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and other times the family will be at the home.
