Shirley Louise (Black) Owens
Mrs.
Shirley Louise Black Owens, 70, of 2046 Bethlehem Road, died Friday, July 10,
2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Coy Eugene
Black, Sr. and Sally Louise Black.
Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a
member of Christian Freedom Baptist Church. She also enjoyed fishing and cooking
for her family.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Calvin
Fred Black.
She is survived by sons; Dennis Gerald Gladden and wife Brenda, Freddy Eugene
Gladden, Sr. of Kings Mountain, Steven Dwayne Lail, of Shelby and Samuel Derrick
Owen and wife, Mary Beth, of Kings Mountain; daughters, Donna Jean Gates and
husband, Wayne, of Kings Mountain; brothers, Coy Black Jr. and wife Judy, Dwight
Black and wife Dianne, Elmer Black and wife Margaret, and Daryll Black and wife,
Francis, of Kings Mountain; sisters, Goldie Owensby and husband Lawrence, Marie
Mabry of Kings Mountain, Joyce Styers of Waco, Jean Detter, Almer Heffner of
Kings Mountain and Jane Owens and husband Scott, of Clover, S.C.; grandchildren,
Shondi Dellinger, Shannon Rudnick, Timmy Gladden, Freddy Gladden, Jr., Jason
Glad-den, Sloan Whetstine Jr., Josh Whetstine and Haley Lail; 13
great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and her very special
friend, Buddy Collins of Kings Mountain.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday, July 12, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
at Christian Freedom Baptist Church Sanctuary in Kings Mountain.
Funeral: Monday, July 12, 2 p.m., Christians Freedom Baptist Church
Burial: Christians Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery
