Mr.
James Jeffery Wood, 46, of 221 Vauxhall Drive, passed away peacefully
surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Carolinas
Medical Center, Charlotte. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on Dec. 4, 1962, to James Robert and Joyce Marie Klingbeil Wood. He was a graduate of Waite High School in Toldeo and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He became an accredited mortgage professional in 2000 and graduated from the Future Leaders Program in 2001. He received his Certified Mortgage Banker Designation in 2002 and graduated from the LSU School of Banking in 2005. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1981 to 1985 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was employed at First National Bank of Shelby as a senior vice president of mortgage operations. He was president of Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas from 2007-2008. He was a member of the Bankers Association of the Carolinas from 2006-2007, he was past president Tri-County Mortgage Bankers Association and was a member of Mortgage Bankers Association of America. He was a member of the Shelby Rotary Club, chairman of Shelby Appearance Commission and Alumnus member of Leadership Cleveland County. He also served as a mentor for the Time to Read Program at Shelby Middle School. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church where served with the Methodist Youth Program and as chairman for the Finance Committee.
Jim's passions included playing and watching ice hockey, spending time with his loving wife, Angie, and their children, Landon and AnnMarie. He was also an accomplished joke teller.
He is survived by his wife, Angela T. Wood; son, Landon J. Wood; daughter, AnnMarie A. Wood; parents, James Robert and Joyce Marie Klingbeil Wood of Oregon, Ohio; his sister, Terri W. Baumgartner and husband, Brian, of Ohio; brothers-in-law and their wives, David and Sally Teddy and Jay and Becky Teddy of Shelby; brother-in-law, Lee Sizemore of Chapel Hill; uncle and aunt, William and Barbara Klingbeil and Bobby and Mary Hancock of Ohio; nieces, Layne Sizemore, Windham Teddy and Laura Hall; and nephews, Lawrence Sizemore, Logan Sizemore, Max Teddy, Quinn Teddy, Jacob Teddy, Eli Teddy, Andy Langenderfer, Alex Langenderfer and Erik Langenderfer.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday, June 6, 4 to 6 p.m., at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
Funeral: Sunday, June 7, 2 p.m., Central United Methodist Church
Burial: Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors followed by a celebration of Jim's life at the home of David and Sally Teddy, 139 Westfield Road, 5 p.m. until.
