Cleo B. Worrell

 

 

Mrs. Cleo Borders Worrell, 90, of Carillon Assisted Living in Shelby, died on Friday, November 13, 2009 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.  A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Mike Lawson Borders, Sr. and Dona Cline Borders.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Worrell; by two brothers, Ambrose Cline Borders and Mike Lawson Borders, Jr.; by four sisters, Bernice Borders Hamrick, Mary Sue Borders Carroll, Hestine Borders Johnson, and Laura Mae Borders Self.  Mrs. Worrell graduated from Shelby High School and Limestone College.  She loved and cared for numerous children throughout her life.  She was an active member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Worrell is her daughter, Brenda Elaine Crawford of Salisbury, NC; a brother, Cline Wilson Borders and his wife Doris Browne Borders of Shelby; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Worrell will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 11 AM at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Rit Varriale and the Rev. Fred Mauney officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour (10 AM –11 AM) prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery
