Hubert Haynes
Mr.
Hubert Jefferson Haynes, 89, of 712 Branton Drive, passed away on Monday, Sept.
7, 2009, at home.
He was born on May 28, 1920, to the late John H. and Ottie Mae Haynes in
Bristol, Tenn. He was educated in Bristol, Tenn. He was a lifetime baker. He
graduated from American Institute of Baking in Chicago, Ill., in 1949, where he
received a degree in Baking Science. He moved to Shelby in 1951 and joined the
L.C. Bost family in Production Management at Bost's Bakery for 35 years and
retired in 1986. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant
with the 88th Field Hospital in the Pacific and in the invasion of Okinawa. He
was also a veteran serving l0 years as a volunteer with the Cleveland County
Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He enjoyed
gardening, yard work and spending time with his loving family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years,
Helen; three brothers, John H Haynes Jr. and Paul G. Haynes of Bristol, Tenn.,
and Herbert W. Haynes of Johnson City, Tenn.; sister, Gladys H. Easter of
Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Gary C. Haynes of Piney Flats, Tenn.; daughter, Betty
Haynes Howard of Kings Mountain; and son-in-law, Ronald D. Noblitt of Lancaster,
S.C.
He is survived by his children, Jane Haynes Noblitt of Lancaster, S.C., Glenn
Haynes and wife, Linda, of Shelby and Diane Haynes Law and husband, Alvin, of
Woodstock, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Deanna Haynes; son-in-law, Mike Howard;
sister-in-law, Payne Haynes of Johnson City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mike Noblitt
of Lancaster, S.C., David Noblitt of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rick Canipe and
wife, Sherry, of Macon, Ga., Lisa Sheppard of Grover, Kevin Haynes and wife,
Kelly, of Johnson City, Tenn., Ed Haynes and wife, Brandy, of Piney Flats,
Tenn., Denise Haynes of Piney Flats, Tenn., Jarrod Law of Woodstock, Ga., Tommy
Mauney and wife, Karen, and Angie Michael and husband, John, of Shelby;
great-grandchildren, Cory and Will Ferree, Mitchell and Zachary Sheppard,
Michael and Jonathan Canipe, Carson and Ethan Haynes, Tammy Watts, Christopher
Mauney and Ailli Michael; great-great-grandchild, Layla Grace Watts; a very
special niece, Christine Kuhnert and her husband, Larry, and their children,
Lara and her husband, Robert, and Tom of Blountville, Tenn.; and many loving
nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be at the home of Glenn and Linda Haynes, 1680 Midway Ave.,
Shelby.
Funeral: Thursday, Sept. 10, 11 a.m., Cecil M. Burton Funeral
Home Chapel
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour before the
service, at the funeral home.
Burial: Sunset Cemetery with military honors
