Jerry Petty
Mr. Jerry Richard Petty, 61, of 1208 Mooresboro Road, passed away on
Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, in Watauga County.
He was born on Nov. 11, 1947, in Richmond County, to the late Richard Veque
Petty and Virginia Jones Petty. Jerry served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church. He previously worked for
Cleveland County Sheriff's Department and later Lincoln County Sheriff
Department and was presently employed with Frank Banks Trucking Company. He
enjoyed boating, horseback riding, hunting, fishing and spending time with his
family.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Taylor Petty of the home; sons, Shane Petty
and wife, Terri, of Shelby and Matt Huss and wife, Thea, of Crouse; daughter,
Jerrianne Sperling and husband, Brad, of Wake Forest; sisters, Kathy Heafner and
husband, David, of Crouse and Edie Hardin and husband, Floyd, of Mauldin, S.C.;
and grandchildren, Austin Petty, Nathan Sperling, Cody Petty, David Sperling,
Noah Huss, Aaron Sperling, Anna Sperling and Levi Huss.
The family will be at the home of Shane and Terri Petty, 1537 Mountainview
Circle, Shelby.
Funeral: Sunday, Sept. 20, 3 p.m., Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour before the service, at the
funeral home.
