Margaret Hanna
 

Margaret McGill Hanna, 82, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2011 at Kings Mountain Hospice House.  A native of Woodruff, SC, she was the daughter of the late Andy W. and Elma Lanford McGill.   Mrs. Hanna attended Woodruff High School and Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing.  She has been a devoted volunteer at Cleveland Regional Medical Center since 1981.  She was the current President of the Hospital Auxiliary and also served on the Medical Center Foundation Board.  Mrs. Hanna has been the area representative for Stonecroft Ministries for many years, which in turn sponsors the Shelby Christian Women’s Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelby, and the Friendship Sunday School Class.  She was a former member of PEO Sisterhood.

Mrs. Hanna is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Eben Hanna; a daughter Susan Hanna Read and her husband Charlie Read; a brother, Rev. Ansel McGill and his wife Susie of Greenville, SC; one granddaughter and three great grandchildren, of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary.  The Rev. Tony Tench and Rev. Perry Holloman will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30pm on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.  At other times the family will be at the residence, 918 Sarratt Drive, Shelby, NC 28152.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150, or First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28150.
