Pamela Wright Champion, 65, of Shelby NC, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Crawley Memorial Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Lee R and Laura H Porter.  She was also preceded in death by her brother Billy Wright.  Mrs. Champion worked for Chase Brass as a Lab Technician before becoming disabled.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Champion is survived by her son, David Lee Champion and wife Erin of Kings Mountain, NC; brothers, Steve Wright and wife Sandy of Grover and Robert Wright and significant other Ruby Harvey Jessup of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jackson and Sydney Champion; friend and husband, Hewie Champion; and mother-in-law Ray Ruppe.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church.  Dr. Tim Sims and Rev. Michael Shumate will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby.
