Patricia Whitaker Daves, age81 of Pinkney Street died Tuesday October 25, 2001 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Home. Born on May 22, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Gladys Whitaker. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Melvin Daves; two brothers, Dudley Whitaker and Robert Whitaker; and a son in law, Harry Avant

Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 27, 2011 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Rev. Donald McSwain officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am, an hour before the service.

Mrs. Daves is survived by a daughter, Christine Avant of Surfside; two sisters, Joyce Benfield and husband Dale of Virginia, and Gail Price of Shelby; two sisters in law, Nellene Whitaker of Ellenboro and Elaine Whitaker of Lattimore; a granddaughter, Nicole Avant of Surfside; and a great granddaughter, Isabella Avant.
